About us

The degree of development of a country is closely linked to the educational level of its inhabitants. Therefore, the formation of new generations represents an investment in the future, which that involves a huge responsibility. Since its inception in 1960, EAFIT University is committed to an education that seeks to influence the growth of Medellin and Colombia. We work on an ongoing basis to achieve prominence in the university environment, through the fulfillment of our mission and vision as founding principles.

The University certifies its quality with the Institutional Accreditation granted by the Ministry of National Education. The accreditation poses a major challenge before the academic leadership in the daily work with our students. However, the academy is not the only line on which we concentrate our efforts.

Research constitutes one of the fundamental principles of EAFIT, considering that our responsibility goes beyond the mere transmission and focuses on generating knowledge for the development of our society. The University has nationally and internationally recognized research groups in different areas of knowledge to ensure a continuous process. It also has talent incubators in which both children and youth participate.

Beyond the Colombian borders, we maintain relations and cooperation agreements with universities and businesses in several countries in various continents. Internationalization is one of our highest priorities so as to be inserted into the academic, industrial, cultural and social environments of the world.
Culture plays a preponderant role within the institutional statements. It is not possible to think Eafit’s work without this ingredient of thought and action that is present in the academic, research and extension activities.

Our physical space has grown and developed in absolute harmony with nature. More than a campus we are a University Park, where daily activities occur in an environment in which research, science and technology coexist with art and nature.

To search for excellence in learning processes, research and social projection, we count on highly qualified teachers, an efficient management of human talent and physical and financial resources.

Likewise, our University Park continues to grow and we have other spaces for the development of the academic activity at regional campuses in Bogota, Pereira, Medellin and Llanogrande.

According to our historical principles and following the statement of our Mission and Vision, EAFIT University shows itself as being close, affordable and democratic: "Open to the world" and especially in an ongoing quest for preeminence understood as superiority in the environment.
