Logistics Supervisor is responsible for developing and implementing logistics plans and procedures related to the flow of materials, products, services and associated systems information including supply chain, inventory control, critical parts availability, import-export licensing, shipment of products, and third-party warehousing.
Under this position is also the responsibility to control, develop and administers cost-effective systems that meet inventory control needs through efficient and economical transportation of raw materials, component parts and/or finished goods, analyzing transportation modes and methods based on customer needs, carrier cost and performance audits, and recommends changes as required to maximize asset utilization.
Provide leadership, expertise, direction and guidance. Plan, develop and monitor inventory performance for both sites.
Responsabilities:
o Analyses distribution systems using statistical modelling and evaluation of customer requirements to develop logistics solutions to meet commitments.
o Interacts regularly with vendors (e.g. carriers, and customers) and peers in Manufacturing, Sales, Operations, Finance, and Product Development/Product Management to optimize systems concepts, procedures and integrated processes between outside suppliers and internal functions and improve how logistics are managed.
o Understands international Letters of Credit and other international shipping documents.
o Provides clerical support for a distribution center: ensuring paperwork completion and operation of distribution tracking systems.
o Interprets laws, rules and regulations regarding shipping and prepares applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.
o Ensures that all transportation activities are safe and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and tracks changes to regulations and modifies policies and procedures in response.
o Evaluates freight classifications, tariff rates costs, appropriate routing and carriers (third-party transportation companies) to be used and negotiates costs and services with domestic and international courier service providers.
o Maintains accurate travel, order/delivery tracking, inspection, and maintenance records, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, vendor invoices, and/or export documentation and logs on routes, rates and services on various vendors.
Education and Experience:
o Minimum 3 years of experience and knowledge in Logistics.
o Bachelor’s in business administration, International Commerce, Industrial Engineering, or similar
o Excellent computing skills, including knowledge and application of Office Suite and MRP.
o Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with staff at all levels of the organization.
