Job Title: Database Migration Engineer- LATAM
Location: Bogotá, Colombia (On-site)

About the Role
We are looking for a Database Migration Engineer to support the migration of databases and data warehouse systems to the Cloud. This position plays a key role in designing and executing comprehensive migration strategies while ensuring performance, reliability, and minimal business disruption.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Analysis
- Lead the end-to-end migration of databases and data warehouses to the Cloud.
- Conduct technical evaluation and analysis of source systems.
- Define project scope, assess risks, and develop detailed migration plans.

2. Migration Design & Execution
- Design and implement the architecture for target systems based on customer business needs.
- Execute migration tasks, including:
- Object migration (tables, views, procedures, triggers)
- Structure and schema replication
- Data mapping and transformation
- Business logic and stored procedure adaptation
- Performance tuning and optimization

3. Cutover & Validation
- Develop and manage cutover strategies, including rollback plans.
- Oversee system validation and customer acceptance testing.
- Ensure a seamless transition with minimal business impact.

Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in database migration and data warehousing.
- Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Understanding of differences in data models and architecture across platforms.
- Experience with data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Teradata, Hive, Greenplum
- Strong understanding of OLAP/OLTP, star/snowflake schema, and multi-layered warehouse architecture (ODS/DWD/DWS/ADS).
- Proficiency with data migration and ETL tools:
- Oracle Golden Gate, AWS DMS, Azure Data Migration Service, Google Data Transfer Service
- Ability to write custom scripts (Python, Shell) for complex migrations.
- Capable of handling data type conversion, encoding/character set challenges, and implementing complex mapping rules.

Soft Skills
- Strong customer-facing communication skills, able to represent cloud migration solutions effectively in enterprise environments.
- Ability to lead stakeholder discussions on trade-offs, risk mitigation, and best practices.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, both spoken and written.
- Strong project management capabilities and stakeholder alignment.
- Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills in cross-functional technical teams.
- Excellent organization and planning abilities.
