Staff Database Engineer at BairesDev

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Database Engineer to lead database architecture and optimization initiatives for enterprise and distributed systems. You will design and maintain high-performance database solutions, tune query engines, and ensure reliability and scalability across large-scale applications. The ideal candidate is hands-on, with deep expertise in SQL optimization, database internals, performance tuning, and mentoring other engineers.

What You'll Do:

- Design, implement, and maintain relational and non-relational database systems.
- Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database structures for high performance.
- Analyze and improve database internals and query engines.
- Monitor and tune database performance, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Collaborate with application and backend teams to design data models aligned with system requirements.
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies.
- Evaluate and integrate new database technologies and tools to enhance system performance.
- Mentor and guide engineers on best practices in database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
What we are looking for:

- 7+ years of experience with databases, SQL optimization, and query engine tuning.
- Strong background in software architecture design.
- Strong understanding of system security.
- In-depth knowledge of memory management and performance optimization.
- Experience in designing and integrating distributed and scalable solutions, particularly in cloud environments.
- Skilled in relational and non-relational databases.
- Ability to choose between different architectures/technologies, understanding the pros and cons of each.
- Expert in managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Advanced level of English.
