Civil Engineer – Renewables
Position Summary
WSP is seeking a Civil Engineer – Renewables to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will support the planning, design, analysis, and delivery of renewable energy projects, including wind farms, solar facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and related infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have 6 to 9 years of experience in civil engineering, particularly within renewable energy or major infrastructure projects. Due to the global nature of our projects, advanced English and French proficiency is required.
Key Responsibilities

Perform civil engineering design and analysis for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, BESS, and related infrastructure.
Develop site grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and access road designs.
Support the design of foundations, platforms, collector systems, and site infrastructure.
Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
Review topographical, geotechnical, hydrological, and environmental data.
Support permitting activities and regulatory compliance requirements.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, structural, geotechnical, environmental, and project management specialists.
Review contractor submissions and technical deliverables.
Participate in construction support, site inspections, and issue resolution.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and engineering best practices.
Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk assessments, and proposal preparation.
Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and project teams in English and French.

Qualifications & Experience
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent) designation, or eligibility to obtain professional registration, is preferred.

Experience

6 to 9 years of professional experience in civil engineering.
Experience supporting renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, BESS, or related infrastructure.
Experience in site development, grading, drainage, road design, and civil infrastructure engineering.
Experience supporting projects through feasibility, detailed design, construction, and commissioning phases.
Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles related to renewable energy infrastructure.
Experience with grading, drainage, stormwater management, and earthworks design.
Knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar software.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with hydrological and hydraulic analysis tools is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools.
Strong technical writing and reporting skills.

Language Requirements

Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal) – Mandatory.
Advanced French proficiency (written and verbal) – Mandatory.
