Position Purpose
To plan, deliver, and assess meaningful learning experiences in Physics aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and standards, fostering critical thinking, inquiry, experimentation, and the holistic development of students within the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement inquiry-based units and lesson plans aligned with the IB MYP framework.
Create dynamic, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments.
Foster scientific, analytical, and experimental thinking through active methodologies and hands-on learning experiences.
Assess student learning using MYP assessment criteria and provide timely and constructive feedback.
Monitor students’ academic progress and behavior.
Actively participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and institutional processes.
Integrate differentiation and inclusion strategies within the classroom.
Promote the IB Learner Profile attributes.
Maintain effective and professional communication with families, students, and academic staff.
Participate in institutional activities, interdisciplinary projects, and ongoing professional development.
Ensure compliance with institutional safeguarding, wellbeing, and school coexistence policies.
Academic Background
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Physics Education, Physical Engineering, or related fields.
Desirable postgraduate studies or training in education, pedagogy, or science teaching.
IB training or certification is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the secondary school level.
Previous experience teaching Physics.
Experience in IB schools, particularly within the MYP programme, is highly desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of the IB MYP curriculum and assessment criteria.
Inquiry-based curriculum planning.
Knowledge of formative assessment and differentiation strategies.
Strong communication and collaborative skills.
English proficiency required.
